John Costello, Jr. Branch Manager – Old Mill Creek
John Costello has been the Branch Manager of the Old Mill Creek office since 2022. He started in the landscape industry in 1982 as a licensed pesticide operator, working his way up to tree and ornamental applications and lawn and pond work. He became an ISA Certified Arborist in 1992 and a PLANET Certified Landscape Professional in 2000. John is very proud of his work on The Conservancy and Kemper Lakes.
John’s job includes improving efficiency in all areas of production, communication and branch procedures. He helps the production teams focus on what is most important on any job. As an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, John took turf, entomology and horticulture classes and that connection led him to the landscape industry. He likes odd numbered groupings of trees and ornamentals and does not like kidney shapes or bookend plantings. He feels maintenance is dependent on the initial establishment of the plantings and a well-installed and well-maintained landscape becomes much more efficient to maintain as it matures if it has a healthy start.
John enjoys riding Harley Davidson’s in charity rides with his wife Evelyn including Toys for Tots and Camp Duncan.
